OAMP Membership & Services…
We will keep our members informed of developments important to them and matters of interest to the meat and poultry industry whether it may be legislative, new ideas, research or education in general.
Continuing Education… In cooperation with Ohio State University’s Animal Science Department and Food Science & Technology Department educational seminars are made available to the OAMP members during the year. In addition, OAMP also works closely with the Ohio Department of Agricultural – State Meat Inspection and provides informational seminars to keep abreast of the State Meat Inspection rules & regulations at various times during the year.
Annual OAMP Convention… The annual convention held is held in Columbus each year during the month of February and is the highlight of the year. This great show features educational sessions which address crucial issues and new techniques in the meat industry; great fun and fellowship with your fellow meat and poultry processors … plus a large array of exhibits by the leading manufacturers and suppliers of the meat and poultry industry.
Prestige… Being a member of your industry trade association creates favor and builds customer confidence. OAMP is associated with the American Association of Meat Processors, the national meat trade organization.
Product Competition Show… This show is held in conjunction with the annual convention to give plant members the opportunity to have their products judged and rated. Winners regularly take advantage of the publicity of winning through the media and by the display of their awards.
Mini-Meetings… During the fall each year OAMP members meet in different locations around the state of Ohio. During the 1 1/2 day meeting they tour several facilities related to the red and white meat processing industry, various presentations are given during this time on topic areas related to processing techniques, packaging, testing, quality control, etc.
Newsletters… The MEAT MAKER NEWS which members receive will keep them informed on important local and national news in the meat and poultry industry, industry trends and association activities which have a direct effect on their business. Plant members also receive free classified ads in the newsletter. Plant and Supplier Members of OAMP receive 4 copies a year.
Representation… OAMP has a record of grassroots efforts in dealing with governmental problems. To determine the effectiveness of the entire OAMP membership ask yourself, “Have you stopped legislation which was harmful to your business?” OAMP members have with a lobbyist! In fact, many of the harmful pieces of legislation would have put many of our members out of business. Who know, maybe one of those could have been you!
